Rosenthal designer

Josef Thorak

*1889 - †1952

Josef Thorak was a well-known sculptor during the NS regime in Germany. He created monuments for public buildings such as the Neue Reichskanzlei in Berlin, sculptures in the Berlin areal for the Olympic Games in 1936 and for the Great Exhibition in Paris in 1937. He had gained a lot of fame as NS national artist, but after May 1945 Thorak led a totally reclusive life. Rosenthal modelled his work »Das Licht« in 1958 posthumously.
