Monoblock and hollow-handle knives
The difference
The Rosenthal online shop has the right knife for every budget and every style. We offer both monoblock and hollow-handle knives. The difference between these two types of knives lies in how they are made.
Hh. = Hollow-handle knife
A hollow-handle knife is composed of a forged blade and a one or two-piece handle. The handle is made of the same material as the other pieces of cutlery. The knives are produced by inserting and gluing the knife blade (forged from high-quality steel) into the hollow handle filled with quartz sand.
Vh. or S.H. = Monoblock knife
The blade and handle of a monoblock knife are made of one piece of steel. These are usually cheaper to produce than comparable hollow-handle knives.
