Otmar Alt

Otmar Alt was born in Wernigerode in the Harz, Germany, in 1940. He lives and works at the  “Otmar Alt Foundation” in Hamm. Otmar Alt is one of Germany’s most important artists. Not only can his unmistakable works be seen in museums and exhibitions, they also adorn open spaces and public institutions and embellish items of practical use. Otmar Alt works in the tradition of famous representatives of “abstract art” such as Joan Miró und Hans Arp. In doing so, he succeeds like no other artist in combining merriment with irony and joie de vivre with deeper meaning. Otmar Alt has been working for Rosenthal since 1976.
