Elsa Fischer-Treyden

Elsa Fischer-Treyden was born in Moscow in 1901 and died in Selb in 1995. She studied painting and ceramics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin. She worked as a freelance designer and artist and was a member of the Deutscher Werkbund and Bauhaus Archive.

Her ceramics, porcelain pieces, glass series and bronze sculptures have been shown in numerous international exhibitions and have found their way into major public and private collections and renowned museums.

In addition to her work as a designer, Elsa Fischer-Treyden also oversaw all the major design developments at Rosenthal from 1953 onwards, acting as an interface between the designers and staff.
