Henry Maske is one of the most famous German boxers of the 20th century with international reputation. In 1988 he won the Olympic gold medal and in 1989 he became World Champion of Amateurs. In his career as professional boxer he became Cruiserweight World Champion in 1993 he defended this title eleven times in the subsequent three years - an unprecedented record. He lost his last fight against Virgil Hill on 26 November 1996 according to scores. Maske was elected "Sportler des Jahres" (sports personality of the year) in 1993 and "Boxer des Jahres" (boxer of the year) in 1995 and 1996. Next to many other awards he received the "Golden Lion" in 1995 and 1996, and the "Golden Kamera" in 1997.
In 2004 Maske created for the »Celebrity Art« collection of Rosenthal studio- line the V.I.P.-Plate. Five percent of the proceeds will go to the Henry-Maske-Fonds according to his wishes.
