Karl Lagerfeld is one of the most celebrated fashion designers the 20th century has seen. In 1967 Lagerfeld joined Fendi as a design consultant. In the Seventies he was given a carte blanche at Chloé to produce exquisite floaty and feminine ready-to-wear collections which claimed to rival contemporary couture. In 1983 he moved to Chanel taking on the title of director of collections and ready-to-wear. In the same year Lagerfeld successfully launched his own-name label. By 1997, Vogue had crowned him the "unparalleled interpreter of the mood of the moment". In 1981 Lagerfeld created the service »Fleuron Chloé« for the brand Hutschenreuther.
