Isolde Schmitt-Menzel

Isolde Schmitt-Menzel had studied book- and script design and ceramics art. She illustrated about 35 books, she is painting and creating sculptures of bronze and ceramics. In 1970 she created for the TV children's programme "Lach- und Sachgeschichten mit der Maus", offered by Westdeutscher Rundfunk, the orange-coloured mouse, who has been a favourite with children ever since. Rosenthal brand Thomas had translated Schmitt-Menzel's mouse images into childrens's porcelain-sets with great success.
