Prof. Dr. Helmut Rilling is a conductor, teacher and messenger for Bach's music in the whole world. In 1954 he founded the Gächinger Kantorei, in 1965 followed the Bach-Collegium Stuttgart as instrumental complement. Since that date he was devoted to the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. He was the first (and up to now the only) conductor to record all 195 spiritual Bach cantatas. Rilling's other merit was a major contribution for the rediscovery of romantic music for choires. By placing orders for compositions regularly he promoted contemporary music. In 2004 Rilling created his V.I.P.-Plate for the "Celebrity Art" range of Rosenthal studio-line. Five percent of the proceeds will go to PRISMA e.V. (a German initiative for youth support and prevention of crime), according to his wishes.
