Max Adolf Pfeiffer

Max Adolf Pfeiffer was a ceramist and undoubtedly one of the great "Porzelliners" of the 20th century. In 1908 he became chief executive of the porcelain factory in Unterweißenbach and founded the Schwarzburger Werkstätten (workshops). From 1913 to 1933 he was member of the board of management of the Porzellanmanufaktur Meissen, in 1918 he became chief executive officer thereof. In 1938 he became managing director of the Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin and managed it until the end of World War II. Additionally, as of 1941, he managed the Staatliche Glas-Manufaktur Karlsbad in 1941. Pfeiffer worked for Rosenthal from 1947 to 1950. He was managing director of the factory Werk Selb and designed pendants for the Art Department.
