The architect and designer Herbert Hirche has strongly influenced the history of postwar industrial design. He was associate of Mies van der Rohe, Egon Eiermann, and later on Hans Sharoun. Being a serious and unobtrusive designer, he reveals through his works his basic cultural attitude, lacking in short- lived trends and modernisms, rather to be found in the social conscience of the Bauhaus. In 1980 Hirche created for the Rosenthal furniture line the formally well- defined trolley-table »Servant«.
