Bjørn Wiinblad has a high profile worldwide as painter, stage designer, poster designer, designer of tapestries and ceramist. He is regarded one of the most imaginative and versatile artists of our times. Next to many other things he illustrated the 16 volume Danish edition of "Arabian Nights' Entertainments". He is at home and works all over the world - with Copenhagen and Lausanne as the favourite centres. Wiinblad has been working for Rosenthal since 1957.

Within the scope of the limited art series he created the furniture system »Die vier Himmelsrichtungen« in four "Farben" and in four "Figuren" (300 pieces each) as well as in 2003 complimenting the series "Hommage à Philip Rosenthal" the relief »Herz für Philip Rosenthal« (49) and the chess games »Wiinblad« (99) and »Wiinblad de Luxe« (1).
